Designer & Vintage Wardrobe Rental in London: Come Over for a Cuppa

Over my 25+ years of fashion buying, and a lifetime of loving clothes (ever since I used to wish my Sindy doll's clothes would magically appear in my own wardrobe), I've built a wardrobe full of beautiful, eclectic, well-loved pieces. I've always enjoyed mixing designer with vintage, and every piece I've chosen has earned its place. My wardrobe rental service allows me to share them with you, let's face it, I can't wear them all at once, and as Marc Jacobs once said, "Clothes mean nothing until someone lives in them."

Like the days you used to swap clothes with your friends, renting from me means finding an item you don't need to own, that doesn't take up space in your own wardrobe. Wear it for a moment in time, get that special first-time feeling, and feel like a million dollars in it.

Renting isn't just about weddings and black-tie. It's a coat for a weekend away, boots or a bag for a fresh look, something to wear for lunch with friends, a statement blazer for an important meeting.

My real life client stories say it best. There was the Miami Vice fancy dress party, styled in a Cos sequin top, pink Isabel Marant trousers and Celine heeled sandals. A fashion designer who rented five items to see her through a working week. A chef who rented two dresses and a jumpsuit for a two-week holiday. One client gifted her daughter one of my services, and discovered along the way that I offered rental too.

Here are some of the pieces I've selected for you to see. It took me some time to work out what to show you, I eventually landed on these.

A classic Sacai piece, part of the Spring/Summer 2017 "Tribal Lace" collection. Contrasting textures, Chitose Abe's signature hybrid design, or as it's termed in Japan, the docking technique. Print panels, utility details, a drawstring and half-popper neck, and great balloon sleeves. I always get so many compliments when I wear it, I style it with jeans in all washes and kitten heels, and with my carpenter worker trousers for a more casual look.

This 3.1 Phillip Lim blouse is from their Autumn/Winter 2018 collection. Rich dark green and navy silk jacquard meets magenta floral highlights, with contrasting taping at the neckline for extra texture. The elasticated waist works beautifully with a high-waisted pencil skirt, trouser or jean. A fringed sleeve adds an unexpected twist, which I love. Shown here on one of my clients, styled with tobacco trousers for an event, she looked so cool and made it completely her own.

An incredible sequin and fringed bomber, found in a vintage store in Long Beach, LA. I knew it was mine before I'd even tried it on. Great worn with jeans or casual trousers, or thrown over a slip dress with knee boots. This is me wearing it for dinner with my husband in Brooklyn, NYC.

My Dries Van Noten blazer from the Autumn/Winter 2014 collection. Dries used the work of famous op art practitioner Bridget Riley to give this collection an elevated rave spirit.

The navy pinstripe, with its psychedelic swirl, feels fresh and timeless every time I wear it.

You might not be ready for a coat yet, but if you're like me and love wearing them, you'll understand how they can totally elevate an outfit and do all the talking. Here's one of my favourites. My Rodebjer Alasia coat, from the Autumn/Winter 2018 collection. The paneled look gives it an architectural feel. It has side-seam pockets and hidden hook-and-eye closures, so the fastening stays completely clean at the front. Not for now, remember it for later.

Not everything I rent is online, there's just too much to photograph and list, and my pieces are better felt and tried on rather than described. Be sure to pop back regularly to see any new additions.

FAQs

Can we talk before I come over? Of course, I'd actually recommend it. A quick call is a lovely way to say hello and get a feel for me first, no pressure either way.

Do I need to clean the piece before I bring it back? No, that's all taken care of by me. Just enjoy wearing it and bring it back as is.

What if something happens to the piece while I have it? Accidents happen. If something needs a repair or extra cleaning, I'll let you know and we'll agree a fair cost together.

What if it doesn't fit or isn't quite right? That's exactly why appointments are in person, we'll try things on together, and if something's not right, we'll find something else.

How long can I keep something for? Whatever suits you. I’m flexible on your needs. Clients have rented for an evening, a weekend, a full week. We'll agree a rental period together.

How much does it cost? No charge for the appointment itself, just pricing on the piece and rental period, agreed together.

Can I try on more than one piece? Of course, that's half the fun. Come with an open mind and see what catches your eye. You might find something you didn’t know you were looking for.

Do I need to book in advance? A little notice helps so I can pull the right pieces together, but just get in touch and we'll find a time.
